Decoration

The dinner was great! Organized mostly by Guiomar Oliveira and Paul, it was a special moment, for me certainly. It was my symbolic farewell and it couldn’t have been better: wonderful food, speeches, picture slideshow, the family art auction, seeing old friends and having a nice time of conversation. I thank you all who contributed in some way.

Farewell in Montes Claros

When? 7^th- 10^th of August, 2011
Before leaving Brazil, I visited my hometown, Montes Claros, for a couple of days to say goodbye to my friends and family. I enjoyed the family, got to visit the MTC where I grew up, played soccer and, for a farewell in style, they prepared an awesome friend-gathering barbecue, with all the typical food I love.

Many are the friends I have in Montes Claros, and how precious they are to me… more than they can imagine.

Departure

When? August 19^th, 2011

My dear family drove me to Tancredo Neves International Airport, where I would catch my plane to France. They took a sign which they opened while I left that said “BON VOYAGE JON – God be with you.” We said goodbye with the classic hugs and tears, which the ticket in my hand explained. And just like that I left: God and I, bag on my back, dear ones in my heart. Two years ahead.
